Strain+ is a speckle tracking echocardiography feature designed by Samsung Medison to enhance left ventricular wall motion analysis. Integrated into cardiac ultrasound systems, Strain+ employs a characteristic-based speckle tracking algorithm that selects and monitors hundreds of points across the ventricular wall, providing stable and precise strain measurements.
The process begins with a three-point border extraction technique, allowing users to define the left ventricular borders efficiently. By selecting three points within the left ventricle, the system automatically generates borders, with on-screen guidance provided to ensure accuracy. Adjustments can be made easily if the borders need refinement.
Strain+ enhances visualization through parametric images, Color M-mode, and Bull’s Eye diagrams. These are displayed using a new color map that represents strain values via color gradients, enabling intuitive assessment of ventricular wall conditions.
The feature includes a Procedure Guide to walk users through each step of the analysis. As users complete the required views, the guide tracks progress and allows them to review or reset steps as needed. Additional tools include segment rejection to exclude inaccurately tracked segments from analysis and Global Strain calculation.
Strain+ also supports AutoEF (automatic ejection fraction measurement) and TMAD (tissue motion annular displacement), broadening its application for cardiac function assessment.
This report helps clinicians understand how to use Strain+ effectively within speckle tracking echocardiography, improving the accuracy and efficiency of left ventricular wall motion analysis.
