AI-Powered and Advanced Multiparametric Intestinal Ultrasound: The Future of IBD Management

This webinar explores the role of intestinal ultrasound in the management of inflammatory bowel disease, with a focus on advanced multiparametric imaging and the emerging use of AI-powered tools. The session is moderated by Prof. Filiz Akyüz and features expert perspectives from Prof. Filiz Akyüz and Prof. Giovanni Maconi.

The webinar reviews intestinal ultrasound as a non-invasive imaging modality for evaluating bowel inflammation and monitoring disease activity in patients with inflammatory bowel disease. Key parameters assessed during intestinal ultrasound examinations are discussed, including bowel wall thickness, stratification, vascularity, and motility.

A central theme of the session is multiparametric intestinal ultrasound, which integrates multiple ultrasound parameters to provide a more comprehensive assessment of disease status. The speakers discuss how combining grayscale imaging, Doppler evaluation, and additional ultrasound features can support clinical assessment in both Crohn’s disease and ulcerative colitis.

The session also addresses the evolving role of AI-powered ultrasound in intestinal imaging. Examples are used to illustrate how artificial intelligence may support image interpretation, standardization, and workflow efficiency, while emphasizing the importance of clinical expertise in decision-making.
