This white paper presents a prospective validation study assessing the performance of UterineAssist™ and UterineContour™, two AI-driven software solutions developed by Samsung Medison, in enhancing the accuracy and efficiency of transvaginal ultrasound.
A total of 120 premenopausal women aged 20–60 years were evaluated using the Samsung V8 ultrasound system and EV2-10A endovaginal probe. UterineAssist™ was used to automatically calculate uterine length, width, height, and endometrial thickness. UterineContour™ was employed to generate an automatic coronal view of the uterus.
Key results include:
- UterineAssist™ succeeded in 95% of cases, showing significant time savings compared to manual methods (median time: 16s vs. 31s by expert).
- Measurements showed strong agreement with those of expert examiners across normal and pathological cases.
- UterineContour™ successfully generated the correct uterine coronal plane in 84% of cases, supporting its use in routine gynecological imaging.
- Slight overestimations in uterine width were noted, though within acceptable diagnostic margins.
The study concludes that UterineAssist™ and UterineContour™ are reliable, time-saving tools for transvaginal ultrasound, supporting consistent and accurate uterine assessment even in challenging cases.
